Beau Vallon is the busiest beach on Mahe and the practical home base for Seychelles water sports. Because it faces north, the bay sits in the wind shadow of the central Mahe ridge during the May-October SE trade season, which means the strong trade winds that batter the southern coast arrive at Beau Vallon as a much milder offshore breeze — good news for eFoils, which prefer flatter water. The bay opens to the Indian Ocean to the north, so during the November-April NW monsoon there can be small wind-driven swell, but it remains rideable for most of the year. Seychelles regulates motorized watercraft through the Seychelles Maritime Safety Authority (SMSA), and commercial operators need an SMSA vessel registration plus appropriate insurance. Several established water sports centers along Beau Vallon (most attached to the Berjaya, Coral Strand, and Savoy properties) handle eFoil bookings for visitors. Importantly, Beau Vallon sits outside the Sainte Anne Marine National Park (which lies on the east side of Mahe and is closed to motorized watercraft), so there are no marine-park complications here. Best months are May through October for calm conditions and reliable visibility.
