Carlisle Bay

Carlisle Bay opens to the west just south of Bridgetown, sheltered by the bulk of Barbados from the easterly Atlantic trades that batter the island's east coast. The result is one of the calmest watersport bays in the eastern Caribbean: a wide, shallow, sand-bottom curve with a small marine park protecting six wreck sites near the southern end. eFoil operators run out of the Pebbles Beach and Brownes Beach areas, with easy launches from the public beach access points and well-organized rinse and storage along the sand. Winds in the bay are typically light to moderate easterly, pushed offshore by the ridge running down the island's spine; mornings are usually glass-flat, with a light afternoon thermal building. Watch for the swim-buoy zones at Pebbles Beach and the marked channel feeding the Bridgetown Port — cruise traffic uses it daily. Wreck sites are buoyed and shouldn't be ridden directly over. Barbados sits on the eastern edge of the Caribbean and is comparatively rarely struck by hurricanes — the island typically gets weather effects rather than direct hits during June-November — but tropical waves still drive periods of unsettled conditions. The dry season December through May is the prime window, with January and February delivering the most consistent flat-water mornings of the year.
