About this spot

Rodney Bay forms a wide horseshoe on St Lucia's northwest coast, anchored by the Pigeon Island National Landmark causeway at its northern end and the IGY Rodney Bay Marina cut into its southern shore. The bay sits in the lee of the island and stays consistently calm, with sandy shallows running off the long Reduit Beach. Resort and marina-based watersport operators run eFoil sessions from Reduit and from boats out of the marina; the bay's open shape gives plenty of room without coral hazards close to the beach. Trade winds slip over and around the island's interior peaks and arrive at Rodney Bay as light to moderate easterly; afternoon sea-breeze can build to 10-15 knots. Watch for the marina entrance channel and the regular fast-ferry route running north toward Martinique. Hurricane season June-November carries the usual Caribbean caution; St Lucia sits in the active hurricane track. The driest, most reliable window is December through April, with February and March typically the calmest months.
