Sheltered crescent bay in north-west Corsica, framed by Genoese citadel and pine forests — clean water and easy launches.

Calvi Bay carves a wide, sheltered crescent into the north-west coast of Corsica, with the Genoese citadel anchoring the eastern end and a six-kilometer arc of pine-backed sand running west toward the airport. The bay's orientation shields it from the prevailing southerly swell, and the surrounding mountains break up the worst of the Libeccio that hits the rest of the western coast hard. Water clarity here is among the best in the Mediterranean — visibility regularly exceeds twenty meters — and the bottom shelves gently from the beach, which makes for forgiving launches. The 5-knot rule inside 300 m is the operative constraint, but the bay is wide enough that crossing the strip and finding clean, deep water takes only a minute or two of slow cruising. Local rental operators cluster around the Port de Plaisance and the central beach. June and September are the most reliable months — July and August are warm and crowded with cruise stops, while May and October swing between glassy and properly windy.
Wide crescent bay sheltered from southerly swell; Libeccio (SW) and Tramontana (N) shape the wind; clear afternoon thermals through summer.
