Florianopolis
A 54km island with a sheltered inland lagoon on one side and Atlantic surf beaches on the other — Brazil's most versatile eFoil base outside the trade-wind season.

About this spot
Ilha de Santa Catarina gives riders two distinct water types within a 15-minute drive. Lagoa da Conceicao is the headline spot for foil progression — protected, shallow at the edges, and reliably wind-affected from the NE quadrant in summer. The eastern shore launches near Canto da Lagoa stay glassy in early morning before the sea breeze fills, and the lagoon's narrow north arm toward Barra da Lagoa is rarely crowded. For open-ocean riding, Praia Mole and Praia da Joaquina on the east coast deliver 1-3m Atlantic swell. Joaquina's long left-hand point is the local surf institution and is best foiled on smaller waist-high days; Praia do Santinho further north has a flatter outside section that suits intermediate downwinders when a southerly is running. Floripa is also a practical hub — Sao Jose do Mar and a handful of Lagoa-based shops carry eFoil-specific support and battery storage. Brazilian Marinha rules apply (Habilitacao de Arrais-Amador above 25hp, eFoils generally exempt), and the Lagoa is officially within state environmental protection — keep launches to established beach accesses rather than mangrove edges.
Typical conditions
Lagoa da Conceicao offers a 13km protected brackish lagoon for flat-water sessions, while Praia da Joaquina and Praia Mole face open Atlantic swell. Summer (Dec-Mar) brings consistent NE thermals 12-18 knots; winter cold fronts deliver clean S/SW groundswell with lighter wind windows in between.
