Jericoacoara

Jericoacoara sits at the western edge of Ceara's Jeri-Lencois wind corridor, a 200km stretch where the Atlantic trades funnel between coastal dunes from July through January. For eFoil riders the appeal is layered geography: the Lagoa do Paraiso and Lagoa de Tatajuba offer mirror-flat, waist-deep freshwater for learning and progression, while Praia da Malhada and the lee of Serrote hill give an open-ocean playground with rolling 1-2m groundswell. Water is 26-29 C all year, and morning sessions before 10am consistently catch the cleanest air before the thermal kicks the trades to 25+ knots. The village itself is car-free sand streets, reachable only by 4x4 transfer from Jijoca de Jericoacoara (about 22km of dune track). That isolation means small crews, no jet-ski traffic competing for water, and operators who already cater to kite and wing foilers — most can rent or store an eFoil board for the duration of a stay. Pedra Furada, the iconic stone arch 3km east along the beach, makes a natural turn-around for a longer downwinder when the swell is small. Regulatory note for Brazil: the Marinha do Brasil requires the Habilitacao de Arrais-Amador for motorized recreational vessels above 25hp, but eFoils generally fall below that threshold and outside the Capitania dos Portos registration regime. Riders should still respect the Parque Nacional de Jericoacoara boundaries — the lagoons inside the park have local environmental rules, and the western beach toward Mangue Seco is the most permissive launch.
