Pittwater is a deep, sheltered estuary on Sydney's northern beaches, framed by Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park to the west and the Barrenjoey peninsula to the east. The drowned river valley runs roughly 10 km north-south, with consistently flat water shielded from the open ocean swell that pummels nearby Palm Beach. Summer NE seabreezes ripple the surface but the surrounding ridges keep things manageable for learners. Unlike Sydney Harbour, Pittwater sits outside the strictest PWC exclusion areas, making it one of the more accessible powered-foil locations in greater Sydney — though NSW general boating rules still apply, including daylight-only operation and minimum-distance rules around moored vessels and swimmers. Bayview, Church Point and Clareville offer ramp access; The Basin and Coasters Retreat give protected anchorages for breaks. The waterway is busy with sailing schools, ferries to Scotland Island and weekend cruisers — situational awareness matters. Water temps run 17–23 °C and visibility is excellent in light winds. A genuinely eFoil-friendly piece of NSW coastline.
