Hyères and the Giens peninsula sit at one of the windiest junctions on the French Mediterranean, where the Mistral funnels down the Rhône valley and the Levant pushes in from the east. L'Almanarre, the long beach on the western side of the tombolo, has been a kitesurf and windsurf capital for thirty years, which means eFoil-friendly infrastructure is mature: schools, board rentals, and easy beach access are well-established along the Route du Sel. The eastern side of the peninsula, around La Capte and La Madrague, offers calmer water for beginners when the Mistral kicks up whitecaps on the Almanarre side. France's 5-knot rule inside the 300 m coastal strip means most actual foiling happens just offshore, with launches from the wide sandy beaches. Late spring through early autumn is the sweet spot — May and June bring reliable thermals without August's summer crowds, and September often delivers the cleanest sessions of the year.
