Long Beach's protected southeast bay — flat, warm, broken into several basins, with easy beach launches.

Alamitos Bay sits at the southeast corner of Long Beach, a sheltered estuary at the mouth of the San Gabriel River broken into a series of interconnected basins — Marine Stadium, the main bay, and the Naples canals. The geography blocks Pacific swell entirely and the afternoon sea breeze typically tops out at 8–14 knots from the southwest, leaving the surface flat to lightly textured. Water is slightly warmer than the open Southern California coast, ranging from about 60 °F in winter to 72 °F in late summer. Mother's Beach (Marine Stadium / Mariners Beach) is the classic launch: a lifeguarded sand beach on the inner bay, no swell, plenty of parking, and a long history hosting wing foiling, kiteboarding lessons, and SUP. The 1932 Olympic rowing course at Marine Stadium offers a long, straight, low-traffic corridor that's ideal for early eFoil progression. Long Beach Marine Bureau enforces 5 mph zones and prohibits motorized craft from designated swim areas; eFoils ride under the same vessel rules. California DMV registration of the board and a California Boater Card for operators 16 and older are required.
