Biscayne Bay is a 35-mile shallow lagoon stretched between mainland Miami and a chain of barrier islands, sheltered enough for clean glides yet open enough to catch the prevailing easterly trade winds. Water temperatures stay between the high 60s in winter and mid-80s through summer, making it one of the few mainland US locations rideable in board shorts twelve months a year. The northern bay near Miami Beach, Key Biscayne, and Crandon Park sees the most eFoil traffic, with rental operators and dealer demos based out of Coconut Grove, Bayside, and Haulover. Mornings are typically glassy; an easterly sea breeze fills in by late morning and holds 10–15 knots through the afternoon. Large swaths of southern Biscayne Bay fall inside Biscayne National Park and posted manatee protection zones with idle/slow-speed restrictions year-round. Foilers should stay clear of seagrass flats, marked manatee zones, and the no-motor areas near Elliott Key. Hurricane season runs June through November.
