Gulf coast town with calm white-sand beaches, mild swell, and reliable afternoon sea breezes from spring through fall.

Naples sits on the southwest Florida Gulf coast, fronted by long white-sand beaches and a gently sloping shelf that keeps swell small and predictable. The Gulf rarely produces the steep wind-chop of the Atlantic side; conditions are friendlier for early-stage foilers and for long flat cruises along the beach. Mornings are often glassy. A westerly sea breeze develops most afternoons through the warmer months, building to 10–15 knots and dying after sunset. Common launches are Vanderbilt Beach, Lowdermilk Park, and the calmer water inside Doctors Pass and Gordon Pass — though the passes themselves carry strong tidal current. The Ten Thousand Islands and Rookery Bay south of town are protected estuarine reserves with manatee, seagrass, and slow-speed zones; powered foils are restricted there. Hurricane season runs June through November and Naples has taken direct hits in recent years (Ian, 2022) — check forecasts carefully in late summer.
Gulf of Mexico, typically small swell and clean rollers; westerly afternoon sea breeze 8–14 kt; water 65 °F winter, 87 °F summer.
