Noosa Heads sits at the northern end of the Sunshine Coast, where the coastline kinks east-west and creates a series of north-facing bays shielded from the dominant southerly swell. Main Beach, Little Cove and Tea Tree Bay tuck behind the Noosa National Park headland, offering some of Queensland's calmest open-coast water. The famous Noosa points break only on substantial cyclone or E swells, leaving flat foilable conditions most days. The Noosa River provides a complete alternative — a wide, flat estuary running inland through Noosaville and Tewantin, with consistent SE afternoon breeze for downwind runs and zero ocean exposure. Sunshine Beach, just south of the headland, is the exposed surf side for advanced foilers wanting open swell. Queensland powered-vessel rules apply, and Noosa National Park's marine zone has restrictions worth checking. Water temps stay 21–26 °C year-round, and the area's well-developed watersports scene means rentals and instruction are easy to find. SE trades May–October provide the most reliable wind window.
