The Limfjord is a 180 km tidal sound running across North Jutland from the North Sea to the Kattegat, with Aalborg sitting roughly midway. The fjord narrows to about 500 m at the city, giving consistent flat water with a slight tidal current and reliable westerly winds funnelled along the waterway. Best riding sits west of the Limfjord bridges toward Egholm island, where commercial traffic thins and the fetch opens up.
Westerlies channel down the Limfjord at 10-16 knots most summer days, with flat water through the Aalborg waterfront and longer fetch toward Egholm.
