Cycladic glamour with serious Meltemi muscle — south-coast bays stay rideable when the north shore goes wild.
Mykonos is the most famous of the Cyclades, an arid granite island where whitewashed villages cling above bays of cobalt water. The Aegean's defining wind, the Meltemi, screams down from the north all summer long — most reliably and most violently from mid-July through August. For eFoilers, that wind defines the playbook: ride dawn and early-morning hours when the sea goes glass, or move to one of the sheltered south-coast bays. Kalafatis, Ftelia, and Korfos are the historic windsurf and kite zones on the exposed northern coast — better suited to advanced foilers who want to play in chop. The southern arc — Ornos, Platis Gialos, Paranga, Paradise, Elia — sits in the lee of the island and stays workable even on stiff Meltemi days. Several local outfits offer eFoil rental and lessons out of these bays. Infrastructure is excellent: marina at Tourlos, daily ferries from Athens and Paros, and an international airport. The trade-off is mid-summer crowding and prices. Late May, June, and September deliver the best balance of warm sea, lighter wind, and quieter beaches.
