A long-running Cyclades windsurf hub with a flatwater channel at Pounta and rolling Meltemi swell at Golden Beach.

Paros has been one of Greece's premier wind-sport islands for decades, and for good reason. The Pounta channel between Paros and tiny Antiparos compresses the Meltemi into a strong, clean north wind, while the shallow lagoon shoreward of the channel produces flat-water playgrounds — an ideal mix for foiling progression. Just east on the windward south coast, Golden Beach (Chrysi Akti) and adjacent Tserdakia open onto bigger Aegean swell and host the annual professional windsurf events. For eFoiling, the early-morning glass-off across Naoussa Bay and the protected coves on the eastern side of the island are exquisite. When the Meltemi is up, the lagoon at Pounta provides a forgiving flatwater zone, while Golden Beach is for riders who want to play with chop and gusts. Infrastructure is mature: a deep cluster of windsurf schools, rental fleets, and family-run guesthouses around Pounta and Chrysi Akti, plus ferry links to Athens, Mykonos, and Naxos. The wind window runs late May through September; July and August deliver the most consistent — and strongest — Meltemi.
Powerful Meltemi N wind funneling through the Paros–Antiparos channel; flat-water inside Pounta lagoon; bigger swell at Golden Beach.
